Football Season is Upon Us
Fall means football and football means parties. While cheering on your favorite team can get exciting, removing that cheese dip stain from the chip you dropped while jumping off the couch in excitement is not. Don’t worry. We’ve got some advice on how to keep those game day carpet stains under control.
1 Cheese Dip Stains
To remove that cheese dip stain, combine a tablespoon of liquid hand washing soap with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with that newly made solution with a clean white cloth and blot until the liquid is absorbed back up.
Still seeing that stain? Try mixing one tablespoon with ammonia (Caution: Never mix chlorine bleach and ammonia – the resulting fumes are hazardous) with two cups of water. Using the ammonia solution sponge the stain and blot until liquid is absorbed. Lastly take cold water and sponge the area. Blot dry.
2 Soda Stains
Blot the stain up as much as possible to remove any excess soda. Work from the edges of the stain to the center. DO NOT scrub as this could cause the stain to soak in! Take ¼ teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with ½ cup of water. Pour this mixture of liquid detergent and cold water onto the newly formed soft drink stain and blot up the area again. Allow the area to fully dry.
Once dry, take your vacuum and vacuum the soda stain thoroughly. Any dry bits of residue will be sucked away after this step. Still seeing the soda stain? Green T Carpet Cleaning can help with that. Contact us today!
3 BBQ Sauce Stains
Barbecue sauce probably one of the toughest stains to remove. Make sure you scrape off any excess barbecue sauce from the carpet. A butter knife works great for this. Mix a tablespoon of dish washing liquid and two cups of cool water. Sponge the stain with a clean white cloth. Blot the stain until all the liquid is absorbed. Repeat this process until the stain is removed from the carpet. Now that the barbecue sauce has disappeared, attack the area with a clean white cloth and cold water. Blot dry. This extra step helps remove any extra cleaning solution from the carpet.
